A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Need Quick Help - OIL

I am about to leave work on my way home and want to buy oil for my engine that is suitable for my engine and clutch. A comment was made on another post concerning some oil not being suitable for clutches (additives being not suitable).

I have a 1982 GS850G. I live in Newfoundland Canada where the temperature is usually between 10 and 25 degrees for driving weather (that's 50 to 80 for you Fahrenheit people).

The type of oil I think is 10W40. Should I be using another oil? Also, the type of oil I can get says this:

********************************
Pennzoil? Motor Oil Conventional Multi-Viscosity Motor Oils
Advanced Protection Pennzoil? motor oils are formulated to protect your engine under the toughest driving conditions.

Benefits:
Formulated to perform under everyday harsh driving conditions including stop-and-go traffic, prolonged engine idling in stalled traffic, and the many starts and stops of short-trip driving.
Ideal for imported or domestic vehicles.
Recommended for passenger cars, light trucks, SUVs, minivans and high-performance vehicles that are fueled with gasoline.

If you can purchase it in your area, Shell rotella (diesel) 15w40 is a nice oil to use. if not a 10w40 automotive oil works just fine.

I have Rotella in three of the bikes so far. and, when finished, the skunk will be sporting it also.

I think the general rule of thumb is to avoid any oil that has the words "energy conserving" in the round emblem on the back of every bottle.

I remember reading somewhere in a post that was yours that you use diesel oil 15W40 - and that shall be what I use! I'll try to get the Shell... though 15W pickings here in NL are slim.

drejal - I shall be weary of the terminology (such as "energy conserving").

Thanks ever so much!
