Need this can IDed please

This is the can that was on Gregs Cooley project. The only text read as follows..US Pat 4228868. Anyone know the part number..or have one thats nice enough for his bike??? SIDE NOTE..the inlet side that slips over the header measures 69MM.

Theres some rash thats past the chrome and rusted. So heres my quandry.

1..Remove the baffle and tap the end back out and scuff the chrome and repaint it flat black.

2..Try and find this can and use it chromed as original.

3..See if a V&H can will slip over this 4 into 1 header ( which we have decided to scuff and paint flat black )

Just looked up the patent number and get a huge number of hits for japanes sites.

I think the number is peculiar to the can and not to its applications. I see some prefixed with XJ instead of L

not sure is XJ is a Yamaha reference or what. Same can different prfix on the patent number.

It looks alot like the one I'm using I got it from chef. I will check numbers on it tomorrow. That one obviously has the large competition baffle.

Xj is a yamaha maxim I.e. Xj450 through Xj900 Are all maxims and or Secas. I know this because I have a few of these. Never saw one of these on a maxim though. I have seen lots of supertrapps on them

Looks like the standard Kerker megaphone can . I had the same one on a 81 750 L I had years ago, also have the same pipe, can on a GS1000 out in the shop now, but it was rusty so some one painted it black. I believe that the baffle is what came in all those Megaphone style cans.
