A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just wanted to introduce myself.
Ive got an 82 GS1100e that I've had for 3 years but its been parked under my carport for the past 2 years because the fork seal started leaking and it needed new tires and I was too busy with other stuff to get to work on it. Well a couple weeks ago I decided to start work on it again, only to find I had lost my keys. lol. Anyhow, through the magic of Ebay I got a set of locks and ignition switch, and after drilling out the tumbler on the gas tank I got to working on it. I drained out everything, cleaned everything, and got it running again. Now I still need fork seals... and Ive already got some new tires waiting to be put on so hopefully it wont get parked for another 2 years.

As long as you still have your centerstand, getting the forks off should be pretty easy. You'll have half the work done since you need to pull the front wheel off for tires.

Thanks for the advise. I have still got the center stand and I'm borrowing a friend's motorcycle jack to make things easier. Ive got the seals, oil, and springs, now Im waiting on a gold valve to come in. I figured I'd try out the gold valve while everything was apart anyhow.

Sounds like a very nice front end upgrade. Are you doing anything with the rear shocks?

Im sure I will in the future, but I'm at the "replace or repair as needed" phase... then while I'm "replacing or repairing" I try to upgrade while I'm at it.

I actually knew the "EZ" part... lol
It may be a week or two on the pics after I get it back together and cleaned up some.
Im actually going to look at a GS500 for my wife tonight. She is going for her riding safety course at the end of the month and I'm getting ready. I sure can't teach her on the 1100...
