I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hey guys, just a question on if anyone has any experience on using late model gixxer coils or other newer make coils on their bikes to bring them back to life instead of buying new coils for $90/ea? Ive seen some 02 gixxer coils and the like on ebay for $30-$50/set instead of the full price (ie$90/each coil) otherwise. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience on this?

Katana, Bandit, and GSXR coils will do quite fine, it's what I use after having a Dyna go bad on me in less than a year. Since about 2000 the GSXRs have come with individual coils built into the plug caps, they won't do.

yes this i know. as i had grinned at the thought of being the only S.O.B. with coil packs on an 84 GS1100 LMFAO!. but ive seen the dual coils for the later model gixxers and other makes on ebay in real nice shape for a helluvah lot cheaper then factory replacements. wondering if anyone else had tried it with any luck..

Doable-1
WTF are you thinking?! -0

anyone else chiming in?

also, what mods do you have to make for them? any? just new caps? resistor caps? factory replacement caps? improvised flux capacitor?

If they are new enough none of the above, just bolt them on, hook up the wires, and ride.

well seeing as the factory plug boots/caps/whatever are old and flakey like grammas home style bisquits, i figured id replace them. but i know nothing about them, so what type woulf i need? just regular, down home factory replacements? the reason i ask is bc ive heard that i might need "NGK resistor" type caps. forgive my noobitism.. lol

You want 5k ohm resistor caps. Z1 has them at a good price. http://www.z1enterprises.com/

What is the resistance of those GSXR coils? The stock GS electronic ignition requires 3-5 ohm coils but I thought some of those late model coils are in the 2 ohm range?

I really haven't looked into that in years, haven't had the need. The biggest change I know of is the individual coil packs on each plug.
