A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ok i got my carbs rebuilt , i got them hooked back up and fired the bike up. it fired up great. but is running rough. i felt the pipes and all of them are hot as hell ( just ask my fingers lol ) but the #3 pipe is cold.?? what in the world could be causing this?

before i forget. i pchecked for spark and it is getting plenty of spark.

Ok you have spark. Soorry but that means you need to take another look at the #3 carb, clean all of the jets real good

Do you have VM carbs or CV. The VM carbs petcock vacuum line hooks up to #3.

that i dont know. i am an amatuer at this lol. i do know that it had gas in the bowl when i took them off earlier.

Are ya sure ya havnt left in intake manifold bung out or a hose off, double check me thinks lol

I had same problem.Turned out to be vacuum hose from #3 carb to the fuel tap(petcock) was missing.Cheers,Simon.

Toss me a PM or an e-mail (addresses in my profile) and I can put you on my list of things to do. We can get that bike running.

Oh, by the way, just what bike is it? Presumably a GS, but what year, what size, what model?

well i cleaned the carbs checked the boots replaced the o-rings plugged up the vacum line to the number 3 carb but still no luck . what to try next??

Drop Steve or I a PM. Im just around the corner from you, and Steve is 15 minutes from us. I recall you having a early 80s 550 correct? CV type carbs and Steve is great with those. I'd be happy to give a hand in whatever as well, but i will defer to him for the carbs, as he is pretty much a master.

ok sounds good. ill get ahold of one you guys next wekend. its a 79 550e.

Ohhh then you have VM carbs perhaps :) Those I DO know. But still, Steve is captain Detail as well...lol. I think either of us, or BOTH of us would be happy to help. Next weekend would be no good for me, however, as i will be out of town. If ya can get a hold of me Tues, im off work. Or when i get back, any time then (ill be back Monday) id be happy to help as well.

that sounds good to me. im going nuts doing it alone lol. ill buy the beer. lol

No need for the beer, as i rarely drink anymore, and Steve has never touched the stuff. But some cold sodas would be great!
