A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just bought a beeeyootiful bone stock 81 1100E - about 25,000 miles. I'm cleaning her up and the only mod will be a header due to cracked original exhaust with "ugly" issues, and possibly filter pods. Question - I'm assuming Vance & Hines (?) is the only game in town anymore and 2) do I pick up a Dynojet kit and turn header and kit over to the shop or can I get close myself (not alot of experience with bikes, mostly hot rods). Any and all advise would be appreciated. I;ll get some pics up when she's back together.

Greetings and Salutations!!

Hi Mr. rebeldart,

The standard is K&N pod filters, Dynojet Stage 3 kit, and a V&H 4-n-1. It's entirely possible to do yourself and it's pretty straightforward as long as the rest of the maintenance is up to snuff. Let me share some more GS lovin'. :D

I just stopped by to welcome you to the forum in my own, special way.

Now that's a welcome .... I will start pricing out the goodies tomorrow, just sold an old Satellite (car, not communications) and got a little "play money" for the GS and another car project - V & H pipe is the way to go I assume ( it's all I'd run anyway, unless Yoshi's were still around). Been 20 years since selling my 900F - couldn't resist the GS as it was a great price and my era for bikes (back when you could tell them apart at a glance, cars too !).

I've been searching - any suggestions on best pricing/shipping for the header (I live close to JP so could save on shipping) I know price isn't everything ...........

Best price on the V&H header was from Dennis Kirk - I'm not going with the pods, just a K&N filter on th stock box - any jetting advise would be appreciated as the header is due this week!

Hi,

If you're keeping the stock airbox, chances are good that you won't have to re-jet. Although a Stage 1 kit is good for "evening out" the power band, you can accomplish pretty much the same thing by shimming the needles (raise them a bit) and tweaking the mixture screws using the "highest idle" method. The Stage 3 kit is unnecessary if you do not install pod filters.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
