A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi Fellas im new on the forum So a big Hello from Australia. I have just aquired a 1984 gsx1100S katana maroon and silver not sure what model it is. I am restoring it from the ground up. I have been having trouble over here in aussie getting parts but am slowly finding them in the U.S and U.K. I want to fit an oil cooler on the bike. I have seen lots of photos of them with the hoses running around the side of motor. which i think looks ugly. and i have seen a couple of pictures with the hoses running down the front of the frame to the oil filter cover. which i prefer. i did see a while ago on ebay some one was selling an oil cooler kit with a new oil filter cover with two extra holes for the cooler in Germany but buy the time i translated it the auction finnished . Can any one tell me whats involved fitting oil cooler to oil filter cover and what brand and where to buy a good oil cooler preferably with a thermostate any help will be appreciated Cheers Billy :-k

Welcome! The cooler installation is pretty straightforward for your bike.....on either side of the filter cover, you will find an inlet/outlet provided to hook up the oil lines via banjo bolts. You will need an 1150 oil filter cover to replace your 1100 item.....this serves to divert/route the oil through the cooler. I'm using a GS 1150 cooler (no thermostat) with good results. Use the search function to bring up a lot of info, as this mod is covered fairly often.....some helpful pics etc.

Tony.

Billy, get ALL the parts from an 1150. The cooler, brackets, hoses, oil filter cover, & the 2 longer bolts that bolt the hoses to the motor on either side of the oil filter cover. They use a 19 mm socket to remove. Ray.

Thanks for the info fellas i have sourced an oil cooler and an efe oil cover plate here in aussie second hand but in real good cond am waiting for it to arrive. Bike is stripped and about to get frame and sundry parts stripped for re painting. does any one know the colour codes for the silver and maroon paint on these babys i am also after original decals any help will be appreciated cheers again Billy
