    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I have two items I want to fix on my 1150.

The first is the oil temp sensor;
I haven't had one for a while with the top end oiler it was discarded long ago and I want to replace it. I will drill it in and tap new threads. My question regarding that is can I use a Autometer sensor or other brand sensor, will they work with the suzuki gauge?

The other is the gas gauge;
It hasn't worked in years, it has something to do with the float or sending unit, are they hard to deal with?
If I remove the parts from the tank am I looking for trouble or are they fairly straight forward to deal with?

Thanks

Very straight forward to deal with sending units. The two things that usually make them stop reading is the slider contact will loose good contact with them wire wrapped circuit board and they fine wire that connects the board to the sending unit base will break.

But first remove it and OHM it out per the manuals steps to see if its working..may be a wiring problem in the loom. To actually test the gauge in the dash just unplug the wires from the tank and jump them off at the harness side and watch if the gauge goes up or not. If yes, the sending unit is the next suspect. If the sending unit reads OHMs and the OHMs go up and down when you move the float arm..then thats an idication the wire harness is buggered somewhere.
