A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello, got some bad news from my local machine shop today, turns out i need a rebore on the barrels of my GS1000. The origional bore size is 70mm and i have been advised to buy a set of four 70.50mm pistons and new rings. A new set will cost close to ?400 and i was wondering if it is possible to source a set of used 70.50mm pistons but replace with new rings? Thanks Shug1e:-|

Those look really nice. If I had the $$ those would go into one of my 1000's - they are ready for factory or better compression, after 60,000mi.

At some stage my Gs barrels will need a rebore im not after more power
so no cams will be fitted do I realy need to weld up crankshaft.

If you are splitting the cases for a rebuild I would do it. AT the least you need to check top dead center for #1&4 should be the same or the crank is twisted
My sugestion if money is tight try and fine another set of cylinders

Oversized pistons question

Thanks fellas, ordered the WIESCO 3mm overbore kit today. It comes with a new cylinderhead gasket, seems like a good deal, just wish i`d known i needed a rebore before ordering a new Vesrah gasket! Which of the two would you use? does the overbore matter and what is your estimation of the engines CC increase? thanks Shug1e:)

I believe I've seen 1085cc quoted for the 3mm oversize. I don't know what type of gasket Wiseco supply with their kits. I don't recall anyone complaining about them though. I used the standard Vesrah gasket on my 850 with 10.5-1 pistons and have had no problems. Your call really.

I've used the Wiseco gaskets in other over-bored toys and have never had a problem...they supply a high quality product, across the board. \\:D/
