A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Would the headlight mounts from a `79 or `80 GS550 fit a `78 GS1000E? Are the fork tubes the same diameter between a 550 and a 1000?

Hi,

Part of the information available on my little website:

Parts Cross-Reference Procedure - using a couple of our favorite online resources.

1. Start here:

http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm

2. Find your bike by year and model. Select the part you wish to reference.

3. Identify the part number, right-click and copy the part number.

4. Then use Babbit's cross-reference utility here:
http://www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspxhttp://www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/1/default.aspx

5. In the pull-down menu labeled "Brands", select "Suzuki".

6. Right-click and paste the part number copied from alpha-sports into the line labeled "Search for".

7. Click "Quick lookup".

You are then presented with every model that the referenced part will fit.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I want to start accruing the parts I'll need to restore a `78 E model 1000 I'm getting.

- Headlight, headlight ears, headlight bucket and trim ring,
- Both side covers and logos,
- seat foam and cover (thanks to the mice)
- Correct (complete) signal light assemblies.

more to discover when I actually get the bike.

I haven't been able to find the cross reference page on Babbits for awhile now. Anyone know the new link or is there another site that I can use for cross reference? Thanks.

ya they changed their site a bit. It's there still though, just scroll over the motorcyle tab, then the select Suzuki under the parts section and you're there.

Glad you found the 'E' model you were looking for. Looking forward the rebuild to follow.

Went there and wasn't bright enough to figure it out. Still need help, just to make sure I don't purchase stuff that doesn't work. When I put in a part number and search, it give me a select model. Does this mean all the models listed use the part number I am looking up?

Yea, click on that and another window will pop up to see what all uses it. Took me a little bit on the first day but I still like it.
