A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I just ordered a new Pingel Petcock for my bike. 1902C(50mm) adaptor, and 6211 Petcock, Single, W/Reserve. I recall somebody posting that some mods needed to be done, but I couldn't find the post. The question I have is, what are the needed mods, and/or where can I find the post that described them. Any help would be certainly appreciated.

The hole in the tank needs to be enlarged with a file. the filter tube on the pingle petcock needs to be cut down 3/4" don't remenber, necessary for the reserve to work. unless you want to go on reserve with 2 gallons in the tank.

If you do a search for "pingel project completed", you'll find the whole process described. The main reason I needed to shorten the screen and standpipe was because, otherwise, it wouldn't fit in the tank. By the way, I didn't need to file the hole in my tank..it went in just fine.

Your tank is probably shaped a little different but, as Lynn says, the length of the standpipe will directly determine your reserve miles. With mine, when I go on reserve, I've got about 30 miles left..which I consider to be perfect.

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks to all who replied to my Pingel question. Unfortunately, the parts were out of stock, and I have to wait a few weeks. For now, I just put a fuel stop valve inbetween the petcock and the carbs. Seems to work, but kind of a hassle to keep remembering to shut it off. At least I'm riding once again though:) One of these days, I'll be able to park it in the garage again without worrying about lighting a match.

I put a Pingle on my 81 a few years back. Direct bolt on with the right adapter plate. I left my fuel tube like it came, I go on reserve at about half a tank! 8O

yeah

yeah

Yeah, Jethro, I don't know why they put such a tall standpipe on those things. The only way it would provide a useful reserve would be if your gas tank was shaped like a stove pipe.

Depending on which pingle you ordered THEY need to be maunally turned off

Pingle $$

Pingle $$

What is teh going rate for a Pingle like $75 or more?
