Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

When I ground the spark plug and turn the motor over I get a weak yellow spark,
I have read it is suposed to be a fat blue??
ideas comments???

I replaced the coils with a second hand set and apart from one side fireing 1-4 and the other fireing 2-3 does it matter which side coil fires 1-4 /2-3 ??

Which side fires which coils does not matter, but the coils have to be mated with the correct leads from the ignitor (or aftermarket ignition if so equipped). They fire 180 degrees apart on the crank rotation. I believe the Suzuki convention is that the outboards are on the left and the inboards on the right. You can switch sides if you switch leads; check your wiring diagram for the correct colors.

Have you checked the plug-plug impedance on the secondary coils? If it's high check your plug caps; they're getting old, and frequently fail to very high impedance which will cause weak spark. Primary impedance is OK (should be about 3 ohms).

Comments? How about questions?

How strong is the battery that is turning over the engine?
Measure the voltage while cranking. If it's not over 10 volts, you need a better battery.

What is the resistance across the secondary side of the coil?
Measure the resistance from one plug cap to the other. Most manuals call for about 30k ohms.
Might need to unscrew the caps, snip off about 1/4" of wire, screw the caps back on.

OK, now an answer:
Electrically speaking, it makes no difference whether you connect to 1 or 4, but you will note that one lead is longer than the other.
Since the coils are mounted off-center, simply put the longer lead to the plug on the other side of center.

new battery
just under 11v cranking
I have spark at all plugs and fuel but she doesnt even feel like its going to fire
refitted all caps and replaced one,,,, now all caps 5 ohms and secondarys 30 ohms

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Ok its alive
Changed the wiring so the left fired the outboards and the right fired the inboards. This is the opposite of the plugs that came with the second hand coils from the wreckers. I also replace the br8es plugs with some old b8es and better spark and fired straight away
However now i have oil pouring out of the engine where the barrels meet the case on the left hand side as its idling and its ****ing out not just a drip..... what the....any ideas??

Base gasket and oil feed O-rings are toast. Sucks to be you.:( Time to pull the top end and replace all the gaskets. OE gaskets are far superior to aftermarket...but expensive.

Good luck

BR8ES is a resistor plug, that why you get a better spark with the Non resistor plug. I would clean the motor off and make sure it is not running down from the cam cover or the cam chain tensioner. If it is from the barrels-- Base Gasket, it has to come apart..

looks like it is the base gasket
I hope not because I think that one is beyond me
it hasnt run in a couple of months coud it perish just sitting there???
