A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a 1983 suzuki gs450 ran great till today. Started fine and was letting it warm up and it died, went to restart it and it wouldnt stay running unless I gave it gas didnt think much of it till I went to ride it an then the fun started. it was idling fine but when I got going no power till 4000 rpms then it surg to 6000 rpms, then i stopped and started out and did it again. took it home check the air box ,fuel line and spark plugs they all look good. I thought maybe carbs need cleaned but it idles fine and if I have it on the center stand and give it gas it will run fine and will go thru the gears and will rev to redline no problem, any idieas ( carbs where rebuilt about 350 miles ago)

IT was low I charging it now and will check it when i get back from work

It could be bad fuel or a battery that is going dead.

Try replacing the gas, but why was the battery low?

May be cranking it trying to get it to run. I normal keep it on a tender but today I put it on the big charger. Its about 3 yrs old maybe its time to replace it

I thought "big chargers" were not healthy for motorcycle batteries.

Every fall I fill the battery with battery electrolite and keep a tender on it all winter and I have had batteries last 6 years. A " BIG" charger is fine as long as it has a 2 amp setting and will automatically shut off when the battery has reached a full charge. You can quick charge at 10 amps but I dont recommend that for more than an hour at a time.

Thanks for all the info the battery is holding a charge as of this am and hopefully tonight i can drain the tank and put good gas in it.

Thanks agian for the info took it out for ride Saturday and Sunday ran fine.

You should go through the stator papers to double check your charging system. I would not have much faith in it until you know for sure its working.
