As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

The main jet is in the float bowl, remove the drain plug and look UP.
Those other 3 orifices you are looking at are for the "pilot" circuit.

i never thought to look there! Thanks!!!!
whats a test-stand?

As I see you changing from stock air-box; well, I usually condone such procedures UNLESS your bike has the hrs. to cause EROSION on jets. If that's the case, well, errr, uhmmm, it's OVERSIZED already?

STILL, no idea why you're doing this...

Especially noting that you are working on carbs. with the drain plug STILL installed???
Are you sure you want to continue?
Have you ALREADY CUT your stock air-box?

whats a test-stand?

Didn't intend to sound harsh but I seriously think that you are chasing another problem?

thanks again for all your help, i can see the jets now. Im gonna try to re-jet to use the pods, i can always go back to the airbox and I think it will be fun to try.

The size is not listed on the jets. I know the main jet is 115, but ive seen two different sizes listed for the pilot jet-17.5 on the bikebandit schematic and 45 on a carb spec chart in the forum

Does anyone know the pilot jet size for the 80'-82' GS450?

thanks, found it there---

1980-1982 GS450 Carbs

The Mikuni BS34SS is a Suzuki OEM number, the actual carb is a VM34
.

Stock jets:

Mikuni pilot jet part #004-003 (17.5)

Mikuni main jet part #004-291 (115)

Anyway, if you want "pods", just remove the "restrictor-plate" as in Indy500 or sumtin' like dat; den, u "re-jet" dat crappy CV carb.

Okay, now why would anyone throw away $$$ on re-jetting a CV carb?

I would just change from CV to slide carbs.

Just makes more sense than fighting what...

Or, GO Fuel Injection!!!

how would I find slide carbs thatd be compatible?
Bud, just find a kit with the NEEDLE.
Someone mentioned earlier a JC III stage sumting or oddah?
And that looks like it comes with a PROPER needle.

i spent about $25 on jets, and the emgo's were $20 for 2, which doesn't seem like alot to me. Anyways, its been alot of fun tinkering so far and ive gotten some performance improvements already

Have you gotten the needle shimming figured? :D

Hey I've been thinking about a similar setup (EMGO pods, stock exhaust), and I've got a bunch of questions...

-How have the pods been, performance-wise? (I'm just curious, I want to convert to pods to eliminate the airbox)
-According to the re-jet guide, I should probably be at a 120 with pods, correct? What jets are you running?
-How much did you have to shim the needle?

Thanks!

So happy I just found this thread! I've been ripping my hair out looking at what jets I'll need to get once I get my K&N pods and exhaust done, and I couldn't work out what a BS34SS was in Mikuni speak... a VM34... much better :D

I'm hoping to order my K&N's next week (pay day) and once I get the first start done and dusted, I should be taking the bike to Tranzac to make my exhaust.

posted the same question in another thread but: pods on an 81 gs650gl, stock jets are 110 on the mains, suggestions?
