A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a gs300L and i have a few questions...im not sure where to post this general of questions but...

Is there no gs300l owners/ haynes manual when i look for it, it only gives me a 250 and says its the same is that true?

I need a rebuild kit for the carbs any ideas on where to get them?

anyone want a 1982 gs300l for $1200 shines nice and runs? I live in the eastern panhandle of wv

well im not to sure what types of carbs all it says on them is Mikuni corporation on them there is not other id numbers or letters on them..how do i tell?

The 250 manual will be close enough.

If you go to the GSR homepage you will find a link to a carb cleaning tutorial. The carbs will be slightly different from yours but you will get the idea of what needs to be done. I suggest you take the carbs off and tear them down to clean them out. You shouldn't need rebuild kits, just some O-rings if the ones in the carbs now are hard and brittle. Cycleorings.com sells kits but they are for the larger carbs, not sure how that relates to your carbs but I'm sure many of the O-rings are the same.

Know first hand that about 50% of the people doing their first carb rebuild short cut the process and don't properly clean the carbs and have to do it again a second, or third time. One of the critical steps is to clean the pilot jets - most people don't do this properly. Read the tutorial and it will guide you.

Good luck

so i go the carbs off and cleaned them the best that i could but now im trying to get them back in...how do u get the rubber tubes that go from the back of the carbs into the air box in to place do you put the carbs in first or what?

carb boots?boots stay on the air box, take bat box out if needed for room, slide air box back put throttle cable on, slide on carbs, then air boots on, finish job :)
