Relay controlled low beam headlight shutoff, while starting.

:idea: I found this great tip on another web site: :idea:

By installing this small 12V relay to your starting circut and low beam headlight in the closed position; the headlight will go out once you hit the starter button sending full power to your starter.

It is very simple, and better than wiring in a switch, the starter button becomes the switch..........how cool!

I like it, but I ride with my high beam on most of the time so I would substitute a relay capable of isolating BOTH circuits regardless of which beam is selected.

Good point ... here's the foolproof solution. Get two relays just like the ones you specified, but instead of directly soldering the connections (as I suspect many would do) use matching "plug-in" sockets for the relays. Then if one fails it won't matter because you can either switch to the other one or simply swap the position of each relay (that covers potential wiring failure in one circuit or the other).

Winds up being kinda like an airplane, with redundancy built into the system by having twin wiring!
