A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Relay Lead help 80 GS850...Lost...

Rewiring the bike, how are the B L and C leads connected to the Turn Signal Controller? I've looked at the wiring diagrams on Basscliffs site, just confusing the hell out of me.. :(

Ideally, I want to use a toggle switch to control the turn signals, I will cancel it manually.

Thanks,
Mark

Battery, Load (flashers), Cancel.
Actually, it's Battery, Load, Controller.

It's that C lead that makes the Suzuki flashers unique, you can not find them ANYWHERE in ANY auto parts store. That wire goes to the Turn Signal Control Unit, which tells the flasher when to start flashing and when to turn off.

Since you are planning on re-wiring and going to a manual-cancel system, you can use any automotive-style flasher and just use the B and L leads on the bike.

You will also have no problems using the stock flasher, just ignore the C lead.

.

Crap, I think I lost the flasher unit.... Whats it look like?

I thought my simplified system would look like this:

Power to switch, right leg to right flasher control to right turn signal, left leg to left flasher control to left turn signal..

I thought the turn signal controller had a built in flasher...

ok, I think my flasher (turn signal relay) is fried... hooked B to battery, L to Load (switch center) and right leg of switch to turn signal. flip switch and light comes on and stays on... no flashing.. :(......

You say "light" (singular) comes on. You need to have TWO lights conencted, and they need to be the proper bulbs. Some aftermarket signals (don't know if that's what you have) don't have the proper bulbs.

If you can't get the stock flasher to work, you can buy a flasher at Autozone or the like that will accomplish the task, load or not. They're cheap, and generally will fit somewhere close to the stocker. Pay attention to how many pins the stock flasher has. Match that with an aftermarket. If you don't plan on using the self cancel feature, this may be an easier solution that trying to get the old components to work with your new signals. The old require a certain load to work properly as Steve said, and many new signals don't use bulbs that will create that load.

No luck with the original flasher. Bought a 6 dollar one at the auto part store, works great! Should have my electricals sorted and rewired today.
