A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

As I'm installing my SH-775 R/R I'm having singe some difficulties finding a mounting point. I could mount it on the back of the existing mounting plate but the first airbox or air filter box us in the way.

I'm considering removing that box and running a single open air filter into the second air box or plenum. My thoughts are that this would allow for more even airflow to all the carbs so syncing will be better and less sensitive to airflow differences between the inside and outside carbs.

Has anyone used this setup? How did it work? I'm getting singe mold popping on decal already so I may be tethering anyway but I'd rather do that once rather than twice.

My 82 1100E had a similar set up when I bought it, a single large K&N filter that mounted to the airbox on the carbs with the back half of the airbox removed completely. It ran OK like that but wasn't perfectly jetted. I have since went to pods and sorted the jetting correctly. FWIW, I mounted an SH-775 in exactly the same spot you are looking at and it works fine there. The details of the single filter set up were:

K&N filter #B035B4
Pilot jets - 47.5
Main jets - 130
Mixture screws 2 turns out

Note this is on a Canadian spec bike. We still had adjustable needles from the factory at that point so I am still using the OEM needles. They have a much finer taper than Dynojet needles and give smoother response coming onto the needles. My elevation is close to 3400ft as well.

Thanks Mark, your post about mounting the R/R there is what got me going down this hole. Thanks for the herring info. I need a new exhaust ago I'm thinking about getting the whole intake/exhaust sorted before looking at setting the carbs up. Hopefully I'll be able yo to give this again when I'm ready.
