    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Replacing master cylinder

I'm just throwing this out there to warn people about buying front master cylinders off of other bikes. I thought it was really simple, if a bike used dual discs, then it should work with other bikes with dual discs, and the same goes for single disc bikes. Well I just got a front MC from a 2001 kawasaki zx12r and although the bike is a dual disc bike, the MC is a 5/8 bore. It seems that kawasaki uses 5/8 bore for pretty much all of their bikes, the difference lies in the calipers. So now I have a nice front MC that I can't use. Or am I completely wrong? I'm kind of hoping I am.

That MC should be fine. Suzuki uses 5/8 for dual disc as well.

Well that is good to hear. I was always under the impression that 5/8" was used for single discs, and 3/4" for dual discs. Is that incorrect? Thanks for the reply.

Not sure what you are saying. Why can't you use that master?

Could you elaborate for me?

Just saw the Doc's post and that's what I was going to say also ( or at least words to that effect)
 
Suzuki uses (I have been told) 14mm for single and 5/8 (16mm) for dual.

It was misinformation on my part. It seems everything I was reading was talking about harleys. What I read said all single disc bikes use 5/8 and all dual discs use 3/4" Although it was harley specific I thought it was applicable to all bikes. I guess (thankfully) I was wrong. Sorry for confusing anyone else out there.

Well my man, that's your mistake right there. Don't you know by now you can rely on anything coming from those dudes:eek:

Actually, your gut was right from the get go. If it came from a sportbike and was designed to work with twin calipers, its going to work on an itsy bitsy GS. Go with your gut...not the Harley folks.
