left tues from upper minn. to wisc. to buy a gs1000g.my sweetie and i figured we'd campout and have some fun while we were at it.bought the bike(Its the red 1 in my sig).camped out in one of the worst rainstorms in the areas history.after we poured the water out of the tent and wrung out the sleeping bags i fired up the bike in the pouring rain and left,the missus following in our car.we got close to duluth and everything was flooded and roads all closed.by then it was raining so hard i flagged the missus over and asked her to drive slow in front of me so i could follow her tailights.we headed south to try and find a road that was passable.after about ten closed westbound roads and a 100 miles south(wrong direction from home) we finally found a road open heading west.course its still sheeting rain the whole time.we had to ford 4 or 5 roads that were flooded all the way across.passed houses under water,backtracked miles and then try a different route. but almost 400 miles later(on the bike) we're home.after i work out the bugs i think i'm gonna like this bike

Didn't you mean to say after you dry out?
It sounds like a very WET ride to me.

well it has a few bugs like any new to you bike.the worst for me was that riding it the front forks felt strange and upon inspection it turned out someone in the past had removed the air valve to fill the left fork.they had just screwed a bolt in its place.not wanting to twist the forks by riding with one leg aired up i released air pressure on the right fork leg(not sure if this was right thing to do).but it bottomed out on the big bumps.and wasnt much fun as i tried to keep my weight back cause didnt want to damage forks.any body got one of those valves(schrader) they could spare?

Damn ! You chose to ride your bike through the worst torrential rain / flash flooding in the history of Duluth . Im pretty sure I would have parked the bike and got in the car.

Dude! You got the brass ball for riding in that mess. But I can sympathize with not wanting to park the bike. May not have been there when you went back. I'd probably done the same.:clap: Or found a overpass and wait it out.

your probably right.however i dont think the missus is going to go for it till she gets over me buying "another damn bike".so for now will try to just fix and adjust the cheap stuff.i have always wanted a gs1000 so it made for a great first ride,even though i was afraid i would literally get washed off the road at times.

i doubt it, your a minnesotan to, i farmed and raised 8 kids way up north.they say we're to dumb to quit and to onery to want to.come to think of it though i didnt see any other bike riders.
