A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey guys, just picked up a set of these for around $300 shipped (pricey I know, but has everything I want).

Anyways, these things are awesome. Extremely easy to use and has bluetooth connectivity for phones, MP3 devices, and other headsets. I'll update more when I get everything installed but I just did a quick connect with my phone and was able to control my Iphone music flawlessly INCLUDING Pandora.

It would be interesting to know how your works at highway speeds.

I found this review that was generally very positive.

and an update.

Summary
Wow!

Introduction
While I could debate whether this is a "Gen 3" or "Gen 4" motorcycle communications system, I cannot and will not argue that the Sena SMH10 Motorcycle Bluetooth Headset and Intercom system (review) is THE real thing.
So with most of the essential good stuff covered very well under Part One but without letting any of it bias me…it is time to let you know how the Sena systems perform in the field so to speak.

here is a similar ebay but much cheaper device (about 1/3)

I found this rating

--------------------------------------
| Power class | Maximum Power Output |
|-------------|----------------------|
| | |
| 1 | 100mW (20dBm) |
| | |
| 2 | 2.5mW (4dBm) |
| | |
| 3 | 1 mW (0dBm) |
| | |
--------------------------------------

So I wonder if the SMH10 is really that much better at audio quality at freeway speeds. This is probably more a function of ear piece, helmet and noise cancellation (if available)

High Impact balancing Microphone for inter-city speed condition
Comply with standard of Bluetooth V2.0
Support Headset profile, Hands-free, A2DP profile.
Class 2 Type Output Power
10-meters(33ft) Bluetooth sensing range
500 meters(1640ft) intercom

This cheapy version has some other type of wireless for the intercome and uses a low Class 2 blue tooth for pairing.
It seems the SMH10 is a single blue tooth radio for both the pairing and the intercom as it is a Class 1 100mW device

The Sena SMH10 is a Bluetooth v2.1 Class 1 Stereo Headset with long-range Bluetooth Intercom designed specifically for motorcycles.

I ordered one from here; Texas is close to CA and no State Sales tax

Yep, I've searched for just about every headset and by the far this one seems the best. Can't ride for a week since I got ear surgery  so I'm impatiently waiting to test these suckers out. Already tried syncing it with my phone and I think I'm pleased enough with the fact that I can play/pause/next track/volume with this unit, and that's before I even talk to anyone else!
