    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Should I paint my triple tree's. What gloss level

So I'm installing some different triple tree's after a little mis-hap. I'm really dragging my feet on weather or not to paint them. They kinda need it, but they aren't horrible.

I do have access to either a sand blaster, or a soda blaster. Either way, I'll have to buy media. And I'm really kinda broke right now,,,that is if I go ahead and buy a new Avon for the front to go along with the rear I just got. My bike has all ready been down for 2 weeks. I'm about to go nut's. Would you buy paint/supplies, or a tire.

So anyway. If and when I paint the tripple's, what gloss level would be proper. I'm going to use VHT Roll Bar and Chassis paint. It comes in gloss or satin. What would you guy's recommend. Thanks
 
Tire first.

Unless you ride year-round, the clock is ticking on the riding season in Illinois.

You can paint the triple over the winter.
 
I couldn't handle the pressure. :-$ I said to Hell with it, and I'm doing both. :cool: I'm just going to be one broke S.O.B. for a couple of week's.

I went ahead and used the gloss paint. Since it's epoxy, it tends to dry not quite as glossy. I think the satin dries to more of a flat. I hope it turns out all right. I'm stuck with it now. The part's are painted, and the tire's on the way. Of course now I don't have the cash to get it mounted. :o
 
i don't see why you would need to waste money getting it sand blasted...

such small pieces you could so easily prep yourself. Shouldn't cost you more than 20$ to strip, prep and paint them.....

I sand blasted them myself at my kid's house. I thought he was going to need sand, as in every time I want to do something there,,,,I gotta buy material. But I made it with what he had on hand. So all it cost me was 2 cans of paint. :clap:
 
I just stripped off the old paint on mine and gave it a quick polish, once everything goes back on you can't even see it anyways....

Kinda too late now. Hard to see with it all mostly put back together. Plus they're all dirty from handling. I'm very pleased with the result's. :D

But here's something to look at. ;) BTW. That's dust or something on the top clamp. Not chip's in the paint. :cool:
