A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

4C4A4224.jpgPre front and rear guards, and in glorious colour! Just trying to keep the look of it as simple as I can. I'm toying about a tool roll on the right side beside and below the seat against the frame but I don't know whether I will. Maybe a full paint and clean down the track perhaps.

That's a good-lookin' bike you got there. Glad to hear about the tire guards too. Debris loves to make its way into the bike. Also, that light inside the seat is genius!

I've used Shutterfly before for picture hosting but have been on Photobucket for several years. Not sure what everyone else is using.

Makes enough sense to me. Especially with the weight of the carbs and pods rattling around, it wouldn't surprise me if that was the source of the leak. I can't really think of anything else it could be. The revs don't stay up, it'll be a couple of seconds or so and then they slowly drop down to idle again. To a less obvious extent it does it when you rev it sitting still, it holds up for a fraction and then comes back down but it's not an issue to me but during a ride it's definitely an issue. I'll check out that site, cheers

My best guess is the intake boot "O" rings between the intake and cylinder head are hard as rocks and leaking, causing the problem.

I recently picked up an 82 450T in much the same condition as yours was. Its a strip down to nothing project, but at least most of it is original and still there. heh

Very neat Phil! I like it!

I'm also glad you did the rear guard... I followed a fella home from work who had eliminated his altogether and every single bit of left over debris from the recent tarring of the road got flung at me, didn't seem to matter how far I backed off it kept coming...

Hey Phil I noticed your location is now Brisbane, you back in the south east again? If so we should catch up and compare 450's at some point, mine's been getting a bit of a refresh lately.
