A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Starter Clutch Broken 1135 GSX

I just got my new puller today and it fits both my 1980 and 82 GS1100E. I tried it on both bikes. It measures per Motion Pro M35 X 1.5 RH internal thread X 75 MM. It was $36.50 with $6.50 shipping. Apparently the 1150s & some 1100s take the 30mm puller. I was measuring the flat part just outside of where the starter clutch rides where mine is buggered up

Some days the bear eats you. I got my new puller & pulled the good one {I thought} off the 82 parts bike and its in worse shape then my original one. Thats $43 for nothing but at least I still have the tool. Hope your results come out better with your 1150

What is the OD of the barrels and the hub on the large flywheel? This is one of those times when you really need a digital caliper.:-k

Compare to the measurements i already gave.

The wear on the copper spacer looks minor, but there seems to be some embedded into the back of the rotor?

Hi again,
Yes, there is some metal on top of the flywheel surface, i will clean it all well and check for marks. The flywheel runs very nice on the roller bearring, but i will meassure it up and check for a replacement. Here in Norway everything is quite expensive, but i remember your advice to replace this.
Tnx again for all help, hopefully i will manage this repair before vacation starts.
Today its so hot here, that the whole family just relax in the childrens plastic toy 5000l pool. Right now, about 21.40 evening we have 26centigrades in shadow. Pool have about 26 deg also.

I forgot that name when I first read this thread.

The name threw me off when I was looking for a puller, but I tried them and was very pleased. Their tools are definitely good quality.

Customer service is also excellent. When mine was delayed several weeks I wrote to them and they offered another, free of charge.

The original one arrived a day later, having been held up by Customs, but I was very pleased with the offer..

Hi there, I just started up. Starter now seems ok, and motor have no longer this hard knoking noice from clutch assy. Now she will get some new oil..:)
The hardest part was to get the cover and gasket back to correct position without losen the cable from stator-coils. My orange sealing stuff from Locktite did not stick to the gasket, yes i know its because i did not replace it.
Next job will be to check the valve clearance, but first i will test the bike as is for some weeks. Hopefully the rain will stop soon, last week we have had a lot of rain in Norway. Many tnx for all the help i got, and hopefully i can give something back another time.
Regards Espen
