    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've seen several forum posts where GS starter relays were replaced with riding mower relays. I've heard that some will fit the stock bolt holes.

Can anyone tell me a part number or what mower the part was for? I haven't found anything small enough for my bike, and the big stores like HD and Lowes dont have anything in stock that looks right. I have most of the big auto parts and home improvement stores in my area.

I'd kinda like to know as well. I have a 550 at home with relay troubles...
 
I just got back from NAPA. After talking to them, I ordered one that looks awful close. Here's a link to it. I'll let you know in a couple of days how it works.

I had a really strange failure on mine. When the relay closes, no voltage passes through the poles. Once the relay opens back up, it drains a few tenths of a volt. That explains a lot of the problems I've been having.
 
The part I bought from NAPA is number-7-01684-1 and I paid $9.49 for it.

For some reason, the relays I've found in Sears, HD and Lowes around here aren't even close to the Suzuki part. I saw one at HD long before I needed one that looked close, but that's it.

This one fits the bolt holes, but is "upside down" in relation to the old one. It works fine and fits inside the frame cover. I don't like having the terminals inverted, but I'll have to live with it.
 
Just picked one up at Lowes while troubleshooting an electrical problem. Fit right into the old holes and is working fine. $12.
