    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Moved fuel screw and air screw during clean up,manuals say do not adjust any ideas of a starting point.
 
It would depend on the year of the bike and type of carburetor. Suzuki changed from VM carburetors to CV carburetors in 1980. If it is the VM carburetors the pilot adjust needles ( at the front center rim of the float bowl) would be from lightly seated 1/2 to 3/4 turns out since you said they shouldn't be adjusted. Those were painted over at the factory. You want them far enough out that you don't get a lean stumble at town speeds with the throttle barely cracked opened. I'm running a Dynojet stage 3 jet kit with the largest jets. I started at 1/2 and got rid of the stumble by tweaking them out about about another 1/8th of a turn. You set the air adjusts for highest idle. Both adjustments affect each other slightly so there may be some air adjustments after changing the pilot settings. If they are CV carburetors, I have very little experience with them. Make sure you soak them in carburetor dip for 24 hours after dissembling the rack or you are wasting your time. there are very good rebuild tutorials on: (http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/). You will find the factory manuals and supplements for the "S" in the center column. Very reasonable O-rings here: (http://www.cycleorings.com/) The only other thing you will need for a rebuild are gaskets.

Depends exactly which 1000S type of carb you have. The VM30SS on the ST has more in common with the 29mm smoothbore Mikunis than the 26mm VM's.

From memory, the last time I set these up, I started with around 1 1/2 turns on the idle mixture screws and 1 turn on the air screws.
