A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Wow, great pics. That 550 looks sweet. I really like that ltd 1000 too but there's definately something weird going on with that left sidecover and maybe the airbox too? Weird. Exhaust looks different too. He needs a nice 4-1 like your 550 has.

vintage bike night

vintage bike night

i wish i could say the same thing for so cal. i love vintage bike nights and rides. never found one that meets all the time for BS and day rides.

Sorry to get off-topic, but can you please tell me if your oil cooler is stock or not (probably not)? I'm curious as to where you routed the oil flow from, since I can see the hoses running underneath the carb rack.

I'd also like to know which turn signals you are using. I like how they look compared to giant blinker light stalks that come stock. I sure wish my 650 was as clean as yours!

Thanks!

I can help you out there, since I put that 550 together. It's a aftermarket JC whitney oil cooler, the oil feed is taken from where the oil pressure switch houseing lives. I replaced the oil pressure housing with one from lockhart philips that has take off lines for an oil cooler. Unfortunetly they no longer make them and you need to keep a eye out for them on ebay and here. I also had to cut off the clutch cable stand off blank (not really sure why it is even there, not used by design) in order to get the lines to fit right.

If you are running a 650 i think the 650 has a differant setup and if you swap out a kat 650 oilpan, that comes with oil take off points, do a search it has been discussed before.

The turn signals are just some cheapies that most bike shops carry or can order. it's some sort of mini signal.

I used to live in Tucson and have driven the Mt. Lemmon highway many times; never on a bike however. There are several spots on that road where a spell of inattention will result in a significant drop. I used to ride with co-workers and one of our typical trips would be;Tucson to Sonoita, on to Sierra Vista for brunch, then to Tombstone, on to Bisbee, then to Douglas and finally to Willcox before heading back to Tucson for dinner. Don't remember the exact mileage but it was a nice ride. I made that same ride by car last October while there for a visit; hopefully I can do it again on a bike soon. Currently live out-of-state, but may be heading back there one of these days.
