A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Well so far the GS has come a long way. I am the Third owner of this beauty and it was time to bring back the money pit. After a series of upgrades, focusing mainly on the mechanics then appearance, we almost have it back together and ready to ride. The what's left, tail light assembly, blinkers, headlight, some electrical bugs, and the front brakes. It seems like the electrical is going to be as big of a headache as the front brake system.
To bad I don't understand it better. I have removes the gauges and installed a set of digital gauges. This leave a lot of disconnected wires in mix. I was testing a new tail light and cut the old harness off the old tail light. after connecting the wires I found that the constant power wire wasn't providing power to the light, it was only powering switched power (when the brakes are pulled). I also noticed that the headlight doesn't work. It got me to thinking that maybe the gauges are required to connect current to power these devices, and maybe I could just bridge the connection in the connector. Well if anyone has any insight into why these wouldn't be functioning I'd love to hear them.

Oh and I am fairly new to the forum, so its great to see so many GS'ers in one place. Awesome bikes everybody. Thanks for all the help so far!

Justin.

Wow should have just said hello.

Wow should have just said hello.

I guess I should have just stayed with Hello.

Hello everyone?

Dont sweat the wires too much. Get a diagram and break it down into individual circuits so your not overwhelmed by the "big picture". Someone once said alot of instrument gauge voltage is routed through the oil pressure sender. Get a simple meter and learn how to read it. With your modified gauges and wire harness you may have to get resourceful to get everything working. If you still have orig connectors in the harness check and clean them really well.

Good luck and keep posting. Youll get your answers soon enough.
