I'm posting this in projects vs. Tires and suspension because it has to do with aspect ratio and handling in a GSXR wheel and suspension swap. Going from 19/19" to 17/17" obviously lowers the bike. If I went with higher aspect-ratio tires would help make up some height difference, but would there be any downside in terms of handling? I would think that going to the 17" front would quicken the steering, but would the increased mass of a 90-series tire cause handling problems? Any thoughts and theories would be appreciated.

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Not really understanding your terminology (19/19" and 17/17"), but there is no way that you are going to increase the overall diameter of a tire enough to compensate for the difference by going to a taller aspect ratio.
What are the specific sizes of your 17" tires? I have a calculator that will show the overall diameter and will run the sizes through to show your differences.

... was a little confusing, and I mistyped. The 19/18" meant 19" front/rear to 17/17" 17" front and rear. since going from 19" to 17" diameter should drop the front end by 1" in the radius of tire surface to axle, I figured that making up any difference would be helpful in terms of not touching the 4-1 collector down over bumps. Just thinking about what tradeoffs the higher-aspect ratio might entail.
