esmithers

Wondering if some of you have any suggestions on what size tire i need to put on my 82 Suzuki GS650GL fitting the stock rims. I like the fat rear tire look with the medium size for the front.

Please let me know what you think

on my bike I stayed with the stock on the front and went one size up on the rear, that is about the most you should do on stock rims....IMHO

.

110/90/16 for the front and 130/90/17 in the rear.
Before esmithers runs out to get some tires, he (she?) should be aware that those are NOT the same sizes that are used on the 650L.

On the 650L, you will need a 100/90-19 on the front and a 130/90-16 on the rear.

If you like the look of larger tires, get a bike that is designed to used them, the 650L will NOT.

Handle like a harley. (NOT JOKING) it be slow to steer with a 110/90 on front 100/90 be way better

nah i was not looking to stray too far off the stock size. I was more looking what is the cheapest and decent route that i can take.

Shinko 230's are one of the value leaders. They stick well but wear a little fast for aggressive riders.

yea from what i can see, those seem to be the cheapest.. i am going to get a pair of them for the mean time so that i have fresh rubber under my butt and later on down the road spend the extra for great rubber.

But go with the smaller original size. No point in buying great handling tires and screwing up the handling going for the fat look.

I hope he was not going to use what I purchased for tires, considering that we are not riding the same bikes.....

I was only showing that I only went up one size in the rear.....and nothing more that that.....

went out for a good run today (will post some pics latter) and the bike handled nicely, mind you we don't get and have a lot of twisties, but what we do have was fun, and the straights were beautiful, 150Kmh and the 30 year old bike on 1 year old rubber was smooth as silk......the Honda 600RR was a bit quicker he hit 200, but we had to slow it down as the red light at the intersection was coming up fast.....

Nah i am using factory size, i had to ask because the bike still has the 1979 tires that came with the bike from factory i assume. it stating 3.4 something for the tires and was not showing the normal 130/90 that we commonly see now. like i stated on my last post i am going to get the shinko's and get 130/90 16 for the rear and 100/90 19 for the front.
