Transplanting cylinder sleeves

Are the early 750 ( 77/78 ) sleeves the same OD as the 1000 sleeves? NOT the bores.. the actual outside diameter of the sleeves themselves. I may be looking to replace 3 sleeves in a 78 1000 cylinder and i have a guy that can bore them to the prescribed 70MM. Im thinking they were the same on the 750 and 1000 only difference being the bore diameters

EDIT............. As was pointed out by Ed theres probably not gonna be 750 sleeves that will work. Im ammending this post to ask about the 850 sleeves, which have a bore diameter of 69MM.

Not a chance. 65mm bore vs 70mm. No way Suzuki used the same sleeves.

I rechecked the specs on bikecliff service manuals and the 79 850 had a 69MM bore. Id almost bet they would be the same OD. I checked the bore on these cylinders and they only have 27000 miles on them. Put new rings in it today and buttoned it up in hopes the new rings solve the oil in the cylinders and the smoking. New valve stem seals from a few weeks ago but it still smoked so i decided screw it and do new rings too.
I had originally intended to replace the rings but when i cleaned up all the packaging crap in the shop i must have thrown the new ones away. I went to the dumpster but it had already been picked up. So i decided to roll the dice and hope the stem seals would do it... I lost the bet and had to reorder yet another second rings.
So as it stands now it has new stem seals and new rings. Tomorrow ill put the exhaust and carbs on and see what happens. I pray its good. If not ill find some 69MM sleeves and have them bored to 70MM. Thats the only thing left if it doesn't clear up tomorrow.

UPDATE..
I put pipes and carbs on and no smoke so i dodged the bullet. HOWEVER i still am looking for some information as to if the 850 sleeves will go into a 1000 block. It will be good info to have AND even if the 850 bores are a little rough they will be perfect for reboring up to 70MM. Much cheaper and faster to rebore them than to buy new sleeves. LA Sleeve wants your life savings for new ones and they have a 6 week delivery time on top of that.

Maybe someone with a 850 block laying around can throw some calipers to the bottom of the sleeves and post up a good number.....

Does anyone have a cylinder block laying around that they can measure to outside diameter and post up a number for me to check against the 1000 barrels?

cool. ill measure the OD on the 1000 block i have setting on my bench. Least ill know if they are compatible. Thanks for the info.

If you look on the bottom of the cylinder block, you will see a blob of colored paint next to each liner, and the color varies from cylinder to cylinder. I'm not positive, but I think these colors represent selective fit on the liners into the block. While i7 may seem that all liners are the same, they may not be. It wouldn't surprise me if a different liner is really tight, or just falls into the hole on another block.
