A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So here's a curiosity.

I haven't ridden my bike for a week or so, and it doesn't start up on the first try when I haven't started it much.
So this afternoon I was pushing the start button and after a while it stopped turning over and all the dash lights went out.
I had somewhere to go, so I hopped in the car, did my stuff, and came back.

Took the seat off and looked at the fuses, they're fine.

Took the side cover off and looked at the battery. One lead was loose. Not off, but a half turn of the screwdriver and then the dash lights came on and I was able to start the bike.

What the heck? How would a battery terminal bolt loosen itself a half turn?

Also I guess I should leave the trickle charger on when I don't ride for a week.

Heat and vibration, maybe. Did you use a 10mm wrench or socket to tighten them or a Phillips? Phillip screwdrivers never tighten them enough for my liking, use a wrench to get it good and tight.

If you have an AGM battery (that is a construction type, not a brand name), you could let it go just about all winter without charging, so a week or so should not be a problem.

SOunds like the loose battery connection was your problem. Probably just was not tight enough to start with, and loosend up with temperature changes and vibration.

About "Leaving trickle charger on it".
DO you mean a 3/4 or 1 or 2 amp battery charger..... if so, no, don't leave that on for days at a time.
If it is a battery maintainer, that will turn itself off when fully charged, then, yah, go ahead and leave that on if you want.
