A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Twisted crank? '82 GS1100E

There is a ton of info in the search on twisted crank. I think we kicked around engine serial numbers trying to find where the the welding started.

Mine was unwelded and twisted 146884.

That is interesting. My 1982 GS1100E is motor # 146889 and has a welded crank. Looks factory, or at least very professional welds. Maybe a warrenty replacement? Don't have the original owner to ask. Bike neck date is 3/82

I have an '82 1100ez and the crank is welded, im not sure of the date of manufacture, someone tore the tag off the steering stem. But I can look on the engine for the number:cool:.

Huh...5 newer than mine. Pretty coincidental.

WHERE DO YOU KEEP ALL THOSE BIKES !!!

Have a 14' x 50' shop with electricity and heat, also a 12x30 dry shed no heat. Race trailer with three bikes in it and a 2-1/2 car garage at home full. (cars can set out) They will make more of them but not these beauties from the GS era. Hope to add a 1985 GS1150ES tomorrow.

I'm very inhospitable, just a damn old grouch. LOL. I went on the GS ride dfrom Fennemore in 2008> Met some great people. Brian Wringer, Joe Nardy and others. Thought they were a great bunch. Made me feel welcome. Were you there?" I was on a 1983 GS1100E in Fantastic Gold paint (or some name like it) Seems it is a seldom seen paint color on a 1983. Hopingt to join the group for the Saturday of the event.

I KNEW you would say something Bill!! LOL!! Terry, I had the Falicon rod first & it was too loose. No QA on their part back then I guess. I had a machinist friend make mine & then it was hard chromed & ground to size. It has 1 TENTH of a thousandth runout in 16 inches. Overkill? Probably, but that's the way I do stuff. My stuff lives this way. Ray.

OMG Ray that's just a touch anal? I know takes one to know one...LMAO
