A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So i am doing the final setting on my overhead and need 5 2.70 shims,I posted in the valve shim club thread but no response...is that still going? or should I just order what I need from Z1...not really a tech question but wasnt sure where to post this...Thanks.

John

I'd give Ray a few more days but you might want to put an ad in the Part's Wanted forum too. 2.70 shims are pretty fat so lots of members should have some spares that size (including me, I'll check tonight and let you know).

Where in MN are you? I'm down in Rochester. I may have a few 2.70's.

If you need to buy them, check with Cycle Parts Nation. I recently purchased a bunch of thinner ones for $3.16 a piece. They came in Suzuki labeled paper; however, they look very similar to the ones Z1 sells. Shipping seemed high, but I had a diverse parts order so it is hard to really compare.

I am not knocking Z1, they have great service and selection and ship quickly. Just thought would send tip along.

That got my curiosity up.

Babbitt's and Motogrid also have them for three bucks and change. :D

I have always thought that Z1 had the best prices, by far, but I have not always known about all the others on my list, either.

Just for everyone else's information, Z1 sells shims for $5.28, everyone else (except Alpha) has them for $10-11. Alpha's price is $13.48.

.

IIRC I have one 2.70 and a couple 2.73s I could drop in the mail to ya. PM me if you're interested.

I got response from him by emailing him (right click on dot behind his user name).

I usually do that by left-clicking on the username. :-k

It brings up a menu showing an option for e-mail if the user has one listed. :o

I thought shims only came in .05mm increments.

Don't forget the X sizes that were supplied by the factory - as I understand it, a 2.70x shim may be any size in between 2.70 and 2.75

Probably true, but virtually all of the "X" shims I have seen were right in the middle, measuring 2.72 or 2.73, depending on how well the caliper was zeroed.

Thanks..much appreciated..I'll post in the wanted forumn too..actually have a few parts I'd be willing to trade...Thanks for the advice!

John

Thanks to all for the replies...the settings are right at or just under .001 so I am pretty sure 2.70 sizes will bring me right in the middle of the tolerances..if anyone does have any I'll take em just PM me and lemme know what ya want for em...I do have Paypal and could swap my 2.75's or I do have a few Misc parts if nanyone wanted to do a swap...Thanks again for the replies!

John

I also can check the drawers and see what I have.

I would be ok with a swap cause I bought a few spares so I can walk into my local dealer and swap out whatever I need for free, so if I bring him a 2.75 vs 2.7 it wont matter much.
