    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Vetter Saddlebag Mount Needed

I looked through search and found that a GS750, 1000, and 850 will work interchangeably (the mounts for the Vetter trunk and hard cases. I have a 1979 GS850 GLT that I want to reattach the trunk and hard cases to. The windjammer is already installed but the mounts for the hard cases and trunk are not (although the trunk has everything there to be mounted).

Any resources on where to obtain mounts (ebay does not have them currently) or a diagram/layout on how to fashion my own? I have been to Vetter's website and found some useful pictures (and with the understanding that a GS750 mount will work on an 850, I also found a useful part number) but I cannot find the mounting kit or any type of instructions on how to make my own.

Would any of you mind pointing me to a resource that does have this information? If any of you have this bike (or a 750 or 1000) and have the trunk and saddlebags attached, would you mind sharing some information on how the mounts attach and maybe some measurements?

the only thing to do is keep checking on ebay. The basic frame is the same, just the mountiing is bike specific.
 
I have a set of vetter bags, trunk complete with all the brackets. If you want I can take some pics.
 
Send me a PM and I'll get some pics out to you. I think I have a set that will fit your bike if you are interested.
 
I actually found a diagram and a picture on Vetter's site (I was looking under the trunk section when I should have been looking under saddlebags). I will PM you about the mounts.
