Voltage loss, right-hand turn signal indicators not working.

Well I'm stumped.

I'm working on my '85 Katana 750 pop-up which lost its right-hand turn signal indicators a couple of weeks ago. They were working fine, then intermittently for very short while, then not at all. I've cleaned and inspected the switch, traced all the wiring and checked all the bulbs. The left-hand signals work fine. Oddly, when I activate the turn signal switch, I get 10.5v at the relay for the left-side but only 9.4v for the right. Am I correct in surmising that the 9.4v is just not enough to engage the relay? If that's the case, where's my missing voltage gone? As mentioned, I checked all the wiring and grounds so don't understand why the voltage has dropped off on that side of the switch... am I chasing a phantom here? Is there something obvious to you guys that I'm blind to?

Any help would be appreciated.

Handlebar switch or it's plug? Assuming the earths are okay.
I had similar symptoms and eventually replaced the switch which forced me to look at the plug which was a mess.

Hi, electrical gremlins are tough. Yes I think 9.4v at the relay is low even 10.5 is low. You might have two problems , not enough supply voltage to your relay and too much resistance on the right hand switch wiring. Can you run a wire straight from your battery to the relay (fused of course) for testing purposes as you would now be getting around 12.5 v. I would also take all the fuses out of the fuse block except the turn signal one when trouble shooting so as to drain the battery as little as possible. From the description of your problem I suspect it is somewhere on the output side of the switch , you might have to check everything again front and back.
