    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

It seems that if I leave it alone long enough the bike will run fairly well for a few minutes.

I got it to run long enough to get the idle down to 2k rpm with the choke on, but when I went lower it was having a hard time running so I just kept it on 2k. Then 30 seconds later the bike quit.

Now, one theory I have is that the gas is feeding in very slowly, when I leave it alone, the bowls fill up, then I can start it and run it off the gas in the bowls, but because the gas is so slow to fill them back up, the bike cuts off. But then it won't start for a bit (10-15 minutes and I can get it to run with the starter, an 1-1 1/2 hour I can get it to run for 2-3 minutes).

Any ideas?

Also, I rinsed out the filter, since it was flooding with gas when I first ran the bike (doesn't spit out gas like it used to, but still drips a little when not running. Should I replace the filter? It looks good, it's metal and foam.

Right now I'm trying to figure out how to install the headlight properly.
 
If your are using an inline filter you should lose it. Make sure your petcock screen is clean. Check the petcock to make sure you have good fuel flow. Also check your fuel line, it should be 5/16" and not have any kinks when lowering the tank.

Try removing and cleaning the petcock and filter screen. Careful not to strip the threads in the tank, or destroy the fragile filter.

You might also take the petcock apart and carefully clean it. Don't lose the spring when you open it. Remember, take a pic, or draw a diagram of how it goes together. If the diaphragm is hard you might need a rebuild kit.
 
And should I use carb cleaner or just a bit of gasoline to clean the petcock filter and whatnot?
