A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Wes Cooley replica seat

John Kat

Forum Sage
I was lucky to find this Wes Cooley replica seat on e-bay UK:)
Apparently, it was manufactured in the USA but I don't know what brand it is?
The condition is not very good but as the base is made out of plastic, a simple reupholstering should bring it back to new:cool:
It surely transforms the bike with it on!

John,

I'm not sure what you mean by a Cooley replica

The actual 1000 S models have a flat seat

The yoshimura bike has a thinner seat with a square rise

Not a bad looking seat, tho

I meant a replica of the type of seat used by Wes Cooley on his racing bike;)
In fact the production models came with two different types of seats.
The flat one as you mention came on the GS 1000 SN ( 1979) and a stepped one on the GS 1000 ST ( 1980) at least in Europe.
The stepped seat is different to the one on the GS 1000 C/EC.
Here are some pics of those seats.

This be the one?
This is definitely a GS 1000 ST with the rear set footpegs.
It's a US only model because it has the CV carbs and the color scheme is identical to the GS 1000 SN.
The seat pattern is also most probably a US only model?
It looks horrible to me:eek:

This is a copy of the Giuliary seat.
It doesn't replicate the Wes Cooley look and....it's only the seat cover:(
The problem these days is to find a proper seat base that's not rusted through and through!
