DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am searching ebay for a gsxr 17" rim (cheap  ) and I have come across a few katana rims (size?) :? . Does anyone know what 17" rims will fit in a 86-87 gsxr 1100 forks? Any help would be great.
Gerry

REAL Katana's (as 81-84) have a 17" rear wheel.
the late model Yank only ones( they are not katana's anywhere but US) have 17" both ends and should fit the forks you mention.
BTW I expect photo's and a full report on these mods.
Thanks
Dink

I never really thought about pictures but your right I should take some and I will. The front end will get here on friday and the brakes next week then the fun begins. I'll start to take the bike apart today or tomorrow. I sure wish i had a digital camera, scanned images will have to do.

Their is a picture of my bike in the gallery, it was taken two years ago. I don't take enough pictures.

The big thing you have to watch out for is the hole pattern on brake rotors. I believe all the Kats with 3 spoke wheels are 17" in various widths. My '88-'90 GSX-R front has a 5 bolt rotor pattern. At the rear the same year GSX-R wheels use 6 bolt rotors and the Kat 600's use 4 bolts. That's probably the main thing you need to inquire about when looking to buy a wheel.

Try the 591 Dunlop. You can get it in R (race) or S (sport) compound. It is a very good-moderately priced tire.

Guys,
He's switching to more modern, wider wheels to go with a Gixxer front end. He'll be able to run radials and his options will be much larger. For the money Dunlop radials are hard to beat. Michelins are good tires but usually demand a premium price.

I just purchaced a Bridgestone Battleaxe from Chaparral Motorsports for about $105 - they are on sale right now.

Thanks for all the great input and the the link.

Took the front end off today now just need some parts. Took a picture of the front of the bike with a tape against it to see the height before and after.
Thanks once again Gerry
