What's the difference?

What's the difference in the FRAM filters CH6000 and CH6001?

FRAM's website says I need CH6001 for my '82 GS750E but the local parts store only has the CH6000.

According to FRAM CH6000 is for shaft drive and CH6001 is for sprocket drive for a '82 GS750.

Maybe I should just forget this mess and go to the suzuki dealer for the OEM filter.

Well I gave in and just bought the 'zuki filter from the dealer, came out cheaper this way anyway.

What's everyone running for oil? I heard all sorts of stuff but lately I'm hearing alot of riders pushing for rotella which is diesel engine oil and doesn't even come in 10w40 or 20w50. So do tell whatcha running.

the 6000 is for 8 valve bikes.
the 6001 is for 16 valve bike(except 83-86 700/750).
the o-ring is different...thats it.

Fram filters are GARBAGE!!! I wouldn't use them if they were FREE!!! On all the engines I build it is factory Suzuki only! Ray.

Buy Wix. O-ring and filter in the box, no known glue issues such as Fram has.

NAPA is too far away from me, it's easier to just go to the dealer. One trip to napa is two maybe more trips to the dealer.

Yeah I know and it sucks. The microfiche shows the filter and o-ring combined as one part number too so what's up with that?

Looks can be deceiving.


You don't need an oring every time, can't remember the last time I replaced one.

True and I know, ever since I picked up the bike I've never replaced that o-ring. It's so smushed I'm amazed it does anything now.

Unless your "O" ring is damaged, you can use it over and over. BUT...don't use a Fram filter or your motorcycle will blow up into a million pieces resulting in serious injury or possibly even loss of life. (just kidding, but I imagine there are those who believe it.)

How long have your engines lasted?
The ones for a lot of cars don't work at all, there are problems with check valves, etc.
Sometimes the cardboard or the glue fails.
They are truly crap.

All i ever used on my Nissan Pathfinder was a fram oil filter from Walmart. Pathfinder has 226,688 miles on it and the engine runs very well.

I don't use fram on my bike though. I use Hi-Flo.

Me too, although never on a bike. I go to the dealer for those.
My wifes little Honduh has 275k miles and never a problem.
Dont use al ALL the time but most of the time.

412000 kms all on fram filters and reg oil changes

dont get where the bad fram experince comes from but I have never had a problem.

I had a Fram on my '82 Chev pickup with a 305, it ruined my second cam shaft when it spit a glob of glue out. When I pulled the truck apart, sitting dead center in the hydraulic lifter for the intake valve in #4 cylinder was a big glob of dried glue. I'm not using Fram again.
