Where to get oversize 850 pistons...

Hi all,
Just after some advice on where to obtain new, oversized pistons and rings for an 850.

The cylinders are out of spec and only giving 50 psi on the compression test, iv had it measured and need to go +.05 oversized, but not sure where to look for a new set.

'Cruzin image' on Ebay sell a complete set, does anyone have any good or bad experience with these? I feel dubious towards the price and possible poor quality.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Don't know about their pistons, but Chuck Hahn has installed a few set of their rings.

Based on his experience, I will be installing their rings on my 850 in a few weeks.

I was looking at their carb manifolds I asked the question what is the "country of manufacturing" they replied Taiwan no brand
The country has a fair reputation for manufacturing good quality aftermarket parts

i guess it's at your money and take a chance.
Dont forget when parts are coming into uk you have duty if over ?135 + import vat that is charged on the total cost including shipping, and Royal Mail will charge you ?8 for the pleasure of collecting those duty's

Thanks guys, are there any other popular go to companies people use, in the UK would be best.

Iv been searching through the projects forumn seeing if any specific suppliers pop up, but there a lot of threads to look through !

If your pistons are ok and in speck it may be an idea to source a good second hand set of barrels and put in new rings
suzuki rings in uk are ?53 per piston IMD Pistons do standard rings for around ?98 complete set I have them in mine and had no problems they do a lot of suzuki Pistons but I could not see any for 850

It would be better if you put what model and year in your signature then when you ask a question it saves people keep asking what bike year.

Ahh yes that makes sense, first time on here properly so will sort signature out next.

I have an 81 (I think) GS850G engine... on a trike ( i worry that this may be an absolute insult on here perhaps?) But it has sparked a burning desire towards owning/restoring a 2 wheel original.

I'm kicking myself at letting another 850 engine pass me by on ebay the other week, would of taken a 6 hour round trip to collect, but it went for only ?60 in the end!!

Be aware that parts are becoming expensive for these bikes if you are planning a restro, new suzuki Oem head gasket ?100 , Oem front chrome mudguard dealer ?300+ can be had ebay ?225 and it goes on.

Yes..running Cruzin Images rings in 2 GSs and my 73 Yamaha TX750. Seem to be fine so far. If I recall correctly they are a Japanese company...yes?? Such as K&L is also a Japanese supply company.

the Cruizin Image stuff actually has a fantastic reputation amongst the SOHC Honda and CB750 owners forums, they use them ALL THE TIME and machinists have reportedly commented that the parts seem equal quality to OEM parts. I picked up a +1mm 850 set to build 870cc GS750 engine up with, they look perfectly fine, and a few others here have used their rings as well.

That is correct that they are a Japanese company, but they have their parts manufactured to their specs in Taiwan.

YSS shocks are based out of Taiwan, and in my opinion they are the best bang for the buck you can get. The $599 G302 rebound adjustable piggybacks I have here are a 3 way tie for the best shocks I've ever had, tie with Works ProRacers ($1199.99) and Fox Factory Shox (vintage, $700-1200 restored on ebay).

Didn't Jay from APE comment about the Cruzinimage pistons before? Thought he did anyway. Anyway, I've also heard that they are decent but not of OEM quality. Some people report weight and size variation. The pistons should be measured and each hole bored to suit. Some may say this is normal practice but with better pistons the machinist can target one bore size for all holes.

Honestly, for a budget build I'd give them a go.
