All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Who needs a SH775?

I've bought and tested a couple dozen of these units and have yet to find one that didn't work properly. I've gotten a few with broken plastic connectors though. Even if you get one of those it's not the end of the world though. You can use a wire tie to keep the connector closed, or forget the connector and simply use spade terminals to attach the wires to the unit.

Anyway, here are a few currently on ebay. Look closely at the connector, looking for a broken tab. I think one of the Can-Am units posted has the tab broken on the light gray connector.

Wow, the timing on your post was perfect. First one (broken-tab Can-Am) is gone, I'll use spades. Thanks for this post, I just started down the road of looking for a regulator/rectifier, and this save me a lot of time.

Nice. Some non acidic RTV can be used to seal the cavity. I've got a few tubes if you want to go that way. Just pay shipping.

Nessism - Do the two letters at the end of the printed SH775 designation have any significance for our GS purposes?

Not that I know of. The Sea Doo SH775's are commonly AA, but most others are BA. I've tested both on my bike and they seem to perform the same.

Good to know. The BA version I picked up is from a Polaris, don't know if 4wheeler or snowmobile. Thank you.

are these usable across the '80's GS line or only specific models? My '83 GS650 seems to be charging fine, but the '81 GS550T is less reliable. The battery drains quickly while sitting, will test rev voltage shortly. Previous test had it going ~12.8V at 2-3k rpms not the 13+ typically seen. Haven;t tested the circuit yet to see if I have a drain somewhere

Just realize that the R/R is only part of the charging system. You still need:
1. A good battery
2. A healthy stator.
3. Clean/good electrical connections - including all of your grounds.

And if you've got a parasitic drain, take care of that first.

Also, rewire the charging system to simply the circut and get rid of the Suzuki stator loop up to the hand control.
