Extra holes drilled into the stock GS650 exhaust pipe

I just acquired this bike and it is too noisy and runs poorly. I am sure I will have to pull and check out the 2 carbs ... but I want to start by plugging the 4 holes up in each muffler. Any suggestions as to HOW best to do the plugging? Small self-tapping screws using that liquid weld paste to keep it plugged forever? So plugging the holes should quiet the exhaust back to normal .... but I am also wondering if it will help the engine run better? Not a nice steady idle but gets better with upper rpms.

Post up some photos of these "extra holes". We are flying blind otherwise...

I had an ugly OEM exhaust that had the baffle plates drilled (poorly) by the PO. I found a full exhaust with intact baffles for free. Sounds better definitely. Made absolutely no difference in performance.

You may want to count the number of carburetors. Typically it’s 4. Unless you have a Murray’s 2-carb set up.

I should have x2 mufflers you can have (read: free) if you're willing to pay shipping (read: not free)...
Mine are off of a 77 GS550 so you'll want to verify fitment. I have the full exhaust system if interested.

        This should fix your holes

Correction .... this is a GR not GS Suzuki 2 cylinder. I am looking for the best way to plug these holes ... so they never unplug.

How about an audio of the sound?

It would look better with 4 more holes drilled in each muffler.

Possibly large pop-rivets will seal the holes & not look out of place.

                Shoot, that ain’t so bad.
This is the poorly drilled pipe that came on my bike. Why would someone do this?

This is the one I picked up for free.

Weld the holes closed. A 5 minute job for someone with the equipment.
