Headed up to Pinetop and Show Low via Payson and Overgaard this past weekend to enjoy time in a lakeside cabin with my sister and her family. Did a bit of hiking along the Mogollon Rim.

The bike was awesome. I continue to love this little Harley as much or more than any other motorcycle I have owned.

2 Cylinder bikes FTW! Bonneville should hit 70K miles in the matter of days... She's definitely becoming more... Triumph(y) in her older years...

Thanks! It's very much like your Sporty... We don't know why but we just love riding these 2 cylinder modern yet classic bikes.
HAHA I totally decided to take my Bonneville out after reading your posts about your rides with your Sporty...

Took what will be my last ride for a couple or three weeks last night due to a scheduled hand surgery today. I've been dealing with an infection in my thumb for about three weeks.
The ride was uninspired, but nice. A ride to the beach, and a meander back. With the holiday weekend over, the crowds were gone, starting whats called "local's summer" - that short time remaining of Summer where the tourists are at a minimum. The ride thru a couple of beach towns was nice, but once I turned back inland it was.... boring. Empty highways and byways were nice, but the endless suburban sprawl, strip malls with endless copies of the same or similar shops got me to thinking.... why? At that moment I couldn't bear the though of retiring in this area..... but thats another chapter to be written years down the road...

                  Current situation...,

I'm letting the Kat insurance expire on the 20th, figured I'd better get a couple more rides in on this thing before then.

Do you let it expire for the winter?

Yes and no. We don't get much winter here, mostly just a lot of rain. But I (currently) have 6 bikes so yes, I do take the old Katana off the road for the off-season. Mostly because insurance is pretty pricey on it and if I don't think that I'll be riding it, why pay close to $100/month for it to sit around? This year I only insured it for three months, last year too if I remember correctly.

I generally keep one or two of the others insured all year round though so I'm not suffering.

It's odd to see a post from the Southwest with water in the background. Even though I rode by a couple of lakes over the weekend, seeing all the great lake and ocean views in this thread makes me want to get away from the desert Southwest.

They say it's supposed to rain here. We've had a huge storm rolling through since last night. Around my neighborhood we actually got .08 inches!

You must not get to Arizona often. It has over 200 lakes. I'm 15-20 miles from two of them, and another four are within 50 miles. Pinetop has five, and between Pinetop and Mesa there are another half dozen. The lakes are largely man-made, but some (Canyon, Pleasant, Havasu) are quite impressive.

I don't go that direction often enough I suppose. Although a couple of weeks ago I did pass by the Arizona side of Lake Powell on hwy 89. I did enjoy that, even if it was just a tiny part of the lake.

I lived in upstate NY before coming here in '86. Always missed the greenery and water everywhere.

I grew up in rural Ohio, right off Lake Erie. While I love the Great Lakes and love the grass and trees, there is a richness and diversity in Arizona that is awe-inspiring, from the Grand Canyon and Salt River Canyon, to Havasupai Falls, the Colorado and Salt Rivers, the lakes, and the rugged mountains, expansive Sonoran Desert and the changes from xeriscape to rich pine forests. This state has most everything within a four hour ride or drive.
