Ron couldn't have picked a better time to come to my neck of the woods, perfect weather, no traffic (Schools aren't back in session yet), it was a good ride!
    sigpic2002 KLR650 Ugly but fun!
2001 KLR650 too pretty to get dirty

Life is a balancing act, enjoy every day, "later" will come sooner than you think. Denying yourself joy now betting you will have health and money to enjoy life later is a bad bet.

    Where I've been Riding

Was going to post this in the current POTW game “unexpected” but it was sort of planned. The Rusty Rail Brew Pub where my son sometimes tends bar held a car/bike show today. Some really great old cars, not many bikes, but very well attended. Highlights were a pair of Vmaxes. Wanted to chat with the riders but they didn’t seem interested so no pics. When I got there my son was already parked and registered. I parked next to him (didn’t register but did see some folks checking out my bike.) Did manage to get one pic of the boy next to his pride & joy, with mine there too (the boy and the bike). He didn’t win anything but we had a great time checking everything out.

Managed 7 sessions @ Ridge. Perfect day 70 degrees, but was surprisingly crowded for a weekday.
Lots of crashes, but only 1 red flag in my group.

This bike was fast, I had trouble keeping up on the straight on the 750.

I went out for a short ride today too, not as nice as Mt. Tolmie but felt real good to get out. 8C sounds warm compare to here.

35c here lately. Headed up in elevation today to get into cooler temps. Good practice for this 69 year old guy to make sure I can still control and balance the GS1250 on the gravel. Place called Mabel Lake B.C.

Headed out tomorrow morning for the Kootenays BC....it's about 750kms (470 miles)
6 days of riding in the mountains...we will get up over 6000ft too.
Staying at my favorite cabins outside Kaslo BC on the Kootenay Lake
What makes this really special is that 3 of my buddies from Ontario are Sprinter Vaning their bikes out and another buddy is coming in from Banff Alberta and they show up the day after me.
The forecast is hot hot hot! Probably going to take a day off to go out on a boat.
Driving my old truck off the Island for the first time since I've owned it....looking forward to it.

Have been surprised at how much I miss having a working gas gage on the RT. Wasn’t gonna spend the money to fix it when other bikes (and cars) I have had didn’t even have any gas guage.

But, then I realized it was the lack of a reserve that I was missing.

                  So, OKay, made the appointment.

Friday, early morning, (48degF) Rode into and thru Grand Rapids to the dealer.

Afterwards, since I was in that area on other side of Grand Rapids, about noon, (68degF) rode further east, and then north.

Stopped a few places to walk around and see what was to see.

North to Greenville area, and figured was about time should head west

                  Then south to home.

                  Home about 4:30.

Hum, didn’t notice how many miles.

                    Speking of reserve.......

Went for a ride last night and really depended on the reserve. I guess the GS is mad for letting her sit for weeks. She made me sit and think about that for a while on the side of the road last night.

I wanted to burn off some stabilized fuel instead of draining it, about a half tank (or so the gauge said). 75 miles into the ride, I lost power and coasted downhill to the shoulder on I-40. In past occurences, I'd switch to reserve and it would sputter a bit till the carby's bowls filled up, then regain power. Not this time. I coasted in gear to a stop, cranked it a couple of times, then waited, Sitting, wondering if I had it in prime the whole ride and actually ran the tank dry. Hmmmmmm It's two miles uphill to the nearest station. I see gas in the right side of the tank while on the side stand so it wasn't bone dry. Maybe snap a couple of pics and then try the starter. Patience......

At the next exit I pulled up to the gas pump, but something was wrong here

Next oump over worked out much better. The trip meter was at 198 miles so I didn't have too much farther before I was walking. Pumped 4.6 gallons and on the road again.

Another pic from 9 mile hill, West of town.

                      Nice photos.

I gather , after sitting there for a while, you thought to turn petcock to REServe.

Minor point, but, you use the PARK position of igniution switch? Use it (or LOCK position) regularly??
Last time I did use the PARK, the lock stuck and took me many different tries to free it up.

Had my typical ride out for coffee this morning.
ANd then ride around for errand and other stuff.
                        60degF and windy.

Didnt have morning walk on pier. Is closed because of waves washing over from the high winds all night. So rode there just to see.

I crashed my wifes bruch gathering..... didnt stay long.

                        Rode around some more.

Lunch at Butch Beach Burrito. THis is the last week of season for them.

I almost bought a 79 CB750F. Decided it was too much like my GS1100G, plus my house needs a new roof. Really nice bike.

"79" CB750F too much like a "82" GS1100G??? Well... Quite similar I guess. They both do have transverse 4 cyl. 4 stroke engines and 2 wheels.
