Gs1000g troubles

I recently started trying to fix and run my dad’s old gs1000g and I have absolutely no clue what I’m doing, for starters it won’t start or crank at all.
My aunt had the bike at her house for storage and when I brought it home she also gave me the fuel line but I have no idea where it goes
help pls

also it has 147k miles should I be worried

Short answer: that bike needs maintenance. Do ALL the maintenance NOW. Don't waste time by trying to start the bike, and then scratch your head, and get all frustrated, when it doesn't start, or if it starts and runs like $hit.

First... Welcome...Yes, read what he ^^^^ said, you'll be amazed by reading those Newbie mistakes. Your question won't even crank, With GS's Most times, if your batt. is good, it's the clutch switch. clutch needs to be all the way in and making a good elect. connection, inside, for eng. to crank. "SAFETY RULES". You can check by removing the headlight and find where the 2 wires coming from the clutch lever plugs into the wiring harness and just connect these 2 wires on the harness side of those plugs. If doing that way, be sure bike is in neutral when hit the start button or bike will probably land on floor. Not say'in that's the problem, but replacing those switches are almost like normal maintenance on these things.... We'd appreciate a little more info. on you, the bike, (I bought a Green "80" GS1000G new back in "80) and pictures are almost always mandatory.

All depends on what level of maintenance was carried out during that mileage.
But yeah, 147K is perfectly do-able.
My '79 has about that, my '80 has twice that.

Do you have any mechanical aptitude or background, working on cars or anything? Anyone can learn anything of course, doubly so with the power of the internet at their hands. As others suggested, poking around the Newbie Mistakes thread is the place to start to see if you want to go down the rabbit hole of old bike tinkering/revival.

What is your goal with the bike? To keep it and ride it? To get it running to sell it for maximum profit? Just something to learn motorcycle mechanics on?
