My tank was NOS a year ago. I put on the tank bag and went for a ride in July on a hot day, parked it for an hour, then went to a gas station, took off the tank bag, and the factory clearcoat had wrinkled by the tank mouth.

I found clear engine paint to resist gas. I painted a engine cover with it, let it dry a few days and immersed it in gas. Did not affect it.

Actually I like the tank better. It has a real gas valve, was new in the box with no rust or dents. The old one took a hit on the right side of the tank by the po. and was a rust bucket.
I love the machine, but it is down for maintenance until my new home is finished. I picked it up in Fresno on the second weekend in January. Rode the back of my brothers Guzi down and rode he back. That was in 2002. She only had 1024 miles on her when I bought her.
