On the drive down it poured so hard I had the wipers on full blast and traffic slowed down several times but I thought to myself this sure beats riding, I am nice and dry and no chance of getting hit by another microburst, at least on two wheels. I get to Brians and the rain has died off slightly although he said the worst part of the front just came through. We get the bike in the garage and are now ready for tomorrow. Aparrently about 3 AM another massive front came through and woke up Brian and Marge. I, of course did not hear a thing. We check the radar and the front is moving through and we delay our departure to avoid the rain. We finally get going and the roads are wet but the sky is good. We head to Gatesville in our usual "not so direct" way and once we get to the county roads they are still partially wet and the corners have lots of debris from the previous nights rain. We run through some standing water on the way there but no big deal. We get there and Robin tells us she barely made it in with all the standing water on the roads. We have a good breakfast and proceed to head towards to IN45. 45 is pretty dirty in the corners with gravel and tree remnants and then there is a bridge out where it turns south. We hit a couple backroads and get around it and keep heading south. 450 is also very messy but are commited (or should be). At Williams by the railroad underpass there is a lot of standing water, maybe 100 feet or so. I am chasing Brian as usual and he has already gone though it with the V-Strom. I am on my now "L-Strom" and proceed to make my way through and get about halfway through the water hazard and look down to see that my pegs are under water and lift my feet up and keep going. I make it through the rest of the hazard without incident. The rest of the day goes very well with a couple of new roads thrown in until we are coming back up 135 by Story. There is a car off the road stuck in the water and a guy in a truck helping out. They are arguing about who is going is getting wet to hook up the chain but the water is way too deep even for my "L-Strom".
We go around and head back. Even with the "water hazards" we still ended up with 430 miles for the day. Here are a few pics of our travels. The front is leaving
