I voted 45-55 today, because my birthday in in a few days and I'll be 56 then and would have had to bump up a category. The friend that got me started with motorcycles had a GS400 that was just so sweet!Ed

Generally true, but not a rule... I was 13 when my bike was made. I was too busy with bicycles then....Originally posted by bobgroger View PostMost of us remember these bikes when they were new. Otherwise we'd be in the "Gixxah forum, Bra"
I only became acquainted with GSs when my brother bought one (83 1100e) around 1990. Even then it was just a red bike to me. My world changed after buying it though. A huge step up from my LTD 550 Kawi which was my first bike.

GIXXAAAAHHHHH!!! (I love yelling that out when I see one)Originally posted by bobgroger View PostMost of us remember these bikes when they were new. Otherwise we'd be in the "Gixxah forum, Bra"

My first bike was a gixxer 750 in classic blue...that was at age 44. It wasn't the best bike for ME to learn on so I sold it. My only regret is the thirty-something year old who bought it died racing away from Dover PD two weeks later.

Ok, I'll help fill in the gap here at 44 yrs old.....My oldest stepson was born when I started high school and his oldest step son when he was in high school. This is why I have six grand kids at 44. Hers mine ours it's all the same....Originally posted by Hinermad View Post"Old enough to know better but still too young to care" is my stock answer.

Right now there's a neat coincidence in the results. There are 33 responses, and all the percentages are doubles: 6.06%, 12.12%, 30.30%, 45.45%

Also, I notice a distinct gap in age distribution. At the moment there's nobody in the 35-45 range. 18.18% are below that and 81.81% are above it. That tells me we have two different populations:

 1) Young folks who can't afford a new bike, and
 2) Old folks remembering their ill-spent youth.

My second bike was an 81 GS 850G at 18 years old in 1991. I wasn't specifically looking for a GS when I bought it but it was affordable and wound up being a great bike. Other than the stator crapping out three weeks after I brought it home, it served me well.Roger

Just go ahead and lie, like Storm 64. If it had been Earlfor or dpep, I'd have guessed that his odometer rolled over, but not Norm.Originally posted by Allie View PostThe average forum member age at GSR is 206. And no, I won't be announcing my age in public...Dogma
