A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Rochester to Oakland on my 1150

Let me know when you are doing the clutch ect. I need the entertainment :-) See you soon!

Just missed my flight out of SF to Rochester. I'm trying to get on a later one so I can rent a car and drive to Boston for the comic con. Got a table there and everything, but my brother will run it with some friends until I get there. Back in Rochester on Monday and I'm ordering parts this weekend.

This may seem too simple of advice but
Keep riding times within reason. Read/heard of too many folks buying the farm who thought they could ride 10 hour days/nights.
Bike riding is not like car riding. More physical.

I was thinking of doing a few hours in the morning, a few in the afternoon and stopping when it gets dark. You think 10 hours in a day is too much?

Depends on you. Some are comfortable doing extremely long days, others are not. If you haven't done much long distance stuff, start fairly small.

I've done a couple of 10-hour days, and more 6-8 hour days than I can count. Only done long days like that for a few days at a time.

Lots of stretching is in order.

Mike, keep us posted on when/where you are passing through the Midwest.

Between Joe (NW Chicago), myself (NW Indiana) and Brian (Indy) you will have access to three bike lifts if needed. Brian and I don't have the fancy smancy No Mar tire machine Joe has :p but spoons and tire balancing set ups will work and be available if needed. Tim

Last tour my brothers and I did, I broke them in on a 600 mile first day so they would understand what its about. That was on 2 lane state and county roads. Its real doable. We ended up having to do more back to back 600 mile days due to problems with one of the bikes hitting a rock abd breaking a wheel. Of this was on two unfaired 850G's, an unfaired 1100G, and a Concours.

There is some pain, but so what.

hey unc looks like you picked a great time to do this trip, looks like we're getting more winter today than we did all winter. good luck.

Lucky for me I missed my flight out of SF so I'm still on the west coast, trying to arrange a new flight that won't cost me $1500.

That snow better be gone by the time I get there.

So...have your plans solidified yet? Or are they still jellin'?

Just curious when you might be coming through...:)

Still jellin' based on when parts arrive and how easily they go on, as well as the NATO summit which is going to heavily restrict traffic through Chicago next weekend.

That works for me, as we will be up in Wisconsin that weekend...

If I can make it to Chicago next weekend, it looks like I'll be spending some time there. My oldest friend lives there as well as the founder of my new company, so I'll have lots to do. Need to do some interviews with Startup companies as well, so if you know of any ...

Well, there is that....but we do need him...

For the Twister tournament...

Made it to Chicago with no incidents other than a tractor trailer throwing a tire in front of me in Indiana. Changing a tire at Joe Nardy's place if it shows up tomorrow.

Doing some work while I'm here, and this is my first time in Chicago during good weather. I like this city more and more every time I visit.

Check in with RenoBruce for a pitstop before crossing the Sierra's.

Depending on the timing, I could ride out to meet you for the last leg home.

Thinking of riding across the badlands from here.

Your own mini SturGiS ;)

Im sure the Chi-guys told you leaving Chicago to the west on 90/290/94 SUX !! Id go west to the Mississippi River on 80/88 and then plan a route to SD.
